Maybe the biggest deal in being a believer and follower of Christ is the assurance of rest at the end of a life. Having just experienced this with my dad, I realized that at the end of a life, “all that matters is faith.” Pop had this assurance that his path forward was secure in the hands of Jesus Christ. He was going home and would arrive safely there. The road to physical death was precarious, but the destination was secure.

The ultimate rest is waiting for us, thanks to the work of Jesus Christ on the cross and his resurrection from the grave. Because the bonds of death could not hold him, they can no longer hold us who are in the Savior’s grasp. Just as Christ burst forth from the spiced tomb, we in turn, will burst forth from the grave as well!
